Board of Elections Seeks Input on 2026 Buncombe County Primary Election Early Voting Plan

Buncombe County -- August 21, 2025: Buncombe County Government Press Release: Have a voice in how early voting works for the 2026 Primary Election – take a short survey about Buncombe County’s hours and locations. Unlike Election Day, registered voters can vote at any Buncombe County early voting site.

The survey is open now and closes on Friday, Sep. 26 at 5 p.m.

What’s next? 

The Board of Elections will review the survey results and in-person feedback on the plan during their meeting on Tuesday, Oct. 7, and during their Oct. 14 meeting, will review additional community feedback and vote on adoption of the plan.  

Important Upcoming Dates 

Sept. 16: National Voter Registration Day 

Oct. 3: Absentee Voting by mail begins for 2025 Weaverville, Woodfin, and Woodfin Water & Sewer District Municipal Election*  

Oct. 10: Voter registration deadline for Municipal Election*  

Oct. 16-Nov. 1: Early Voting Municipal Election

Oct. 21: Last day to request Absentee Ballot for Municipal Election 

Nov. 4: Municipal Election Day 

Nov. 14: County Canvass Day 

Dec.1-19: Candidate filing for 2026 Primary Election (please note that a candidate must be registered with a NC recognized political party for at least 90 days at the time of filing their Notice of Candidacy-for partisan contests) 

* Only residents within the town limits of Weaverville, Woodfin, and/or Woodfin Water & Sewer District are eligible to vote.
