Buncombe County -- August 6, 2026: The Buncombe County Sheriff’s Office is currently conducting a death investigation in the District 1 area following an incident reported on Stradley Mountain Road.
Patrol deputies, detectives, and Crime Scene Investigators responded to 25 Stradley Mountain Road, where the investigation remains active. Authorities are working to determine the identity of the individual as well as the circumstances surrounding the death.
"We are in the early stages of the investigation, working to identify the person and the circumstances," said BCSO District 1 Captain Dustan Auldredge. "We don’t have any additional information to share right now. We will provide updates as soon as we have them."
Sheriff's office officials reassured local residents that there is currently no indication of a broader public safety concern.
"We do not believe there is any threat to the community," Captain Auldredge added.
