Celebrate Arbor Day in the River Arts District (RAD) on Saturday, April 11, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. The family-friendly event offers an opportunity to engage with Asheville's urban forestry initiatives while enjoying the district's artistic atmosphere. Arbor Day connects the community with environmental stewardship and enhances the beauty of our neighborhoods. This celebration provides a fun, educational experience in the heart of Asheville's vibrant arts scene.
The Arbor Day celebration will take place at two locations: Craven Street Boat Launch (192 Riverside Drive) and The Smokestack (91 Riverside Drive). Activities include tree planting demonstrations, riparian zone walks, and the distribution of free tree seedlings. Information about Asheville's Urban Forest Master Plan will also be available. Admission and parking are free.
Attendees can also explore the RAD Sip and Shop, which runs from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Dozens of galleries and studios throughout the River Arts District will be open.
Parking Tip: Attendees are encouraged to use the free public lot north of Craven Street or parking along Riverside Drive to keep the boat launch clear for river users.
Urban Forest Master Plan: Representatives will be on-site to share updates on Asheville's first comprehensive management plan for its tree canopy.
Weather Note: While the event will proceed in light rain, it will be canceled if thunderstorms are in the forecast. Check the City of Asheville's social media for last-minute updates.
