Asheville -- September 16, 2026: Asheviille Police Department Press Release: The Asheville Police Department is investigating a fatal motor vehicle collision involving a pedestrian that occurred Thursday night in east Asheville.
Officers responded to the 1140 block of Tunnel Road to investigate a motor vehicle collision involving a pedestrian around 8:16 p.m. on September 10th. The preliminary investigation indicates a 2016 Nissan Rogue was traveling eastbound on Tunnel Road through a green light at the Riceville Road intersection when it struck a pedestrian. The victim was transported to Mission Hospital, where they succumbed to their injuries. Once next of kin is notified, further details will be released.
The driver remained at the scene. The incident remains under investigation. Once the investigation is complete, officers will consult with the Buncombe County District Attorney’s Office regarding this tragic incident.
