On January 29, at 11:37 p.m., APD officers responded to a reported shooting on Malcolm Court. Upon arrival, officers rendered aid to one individual who had sustained serious gunshot wounds to the neck and arm. Buncombe County EMS transported the victim to Mission Hospital.

Investigation Details

A preliminary investigation suggests the shooting stemmed from a verbal dispute that escalated. According to the investigation, both individuals involved drew pistols, and one fired multiple shots, striking the victim. Gunfire also damaged an exterior wall, window, and a vehicle at a nearby home.

As of January 30, all parties contacted are cooperating with the investigation. No charges have been filed, and no one is currently in custody. Authorities have stated that there is no public threat.
