Asheville -- July 31, 2026: A 62-year-old West Asheville pedestrian, Linda Jean Johnson, died Monday night after being struck by a vehicle on Patton Avenue. The Asheville Police Department (APD) is actively investigating the fatal incident, which occurred around 11:30 p.m. on July 27.Officers responded to reports of a crash involving a pedestrian in the 900 block of Patton Avenue in west Asheville. Preliminary investigation by APD indicates Johnson was crossing the road from the eastbound side
