Asheville -- October 5, 2026 -- Detectives with the Asheville Police Department have charged an additional suspect in connection with a spring shooting that left one person wounded.
The charges stem from an ongoing investigation into an April 26 incident at a residence on Atkinson Street, where one victim sustained a non-life-threatening gunshot wound. Following continued investigation, investigators identified 29-year-old Trevon Demarkus Stone as an additional suspect.
Authorities have formally charged Stone with multiple offenses:
Felony Attempted First-Degree Murder
Felony Conspiracy to Commit First-Degree Murder
Felony Assault with a Deadly Weapon with Intent to Kill Inflicting Serious Injury
Felony Possession of a Firearm by a Felon
Misdemeanor Injury to Personal Property
Stone is currently being held in federal custody on separate, unrelated charges.
