Asheville -- July 24, 2026: A 68-year-old man has been arrested following an Asheville Police Department investigation into a series of incidents involving alleged indecent exposure, attempted residential break-ins, and trespassing in a south Asheville neighborhood.
According to the Asheville Police Department, officers responded at approximately 12:09 a.m. on Monday, July 20, to the 100 block of Deer Lake Drive after receiving a report of indecent exposure.
When officers arrived, they located a man walking naked in the area. Police identified him as Raymond Steven Young, 68, and took him into custody without incident.
Police say the arrest followed several months of reports from residents in the Deer Lake Drive area involving a naked man who allegedly attempted to enter occupied homes. During the investigation, detectives identified Young as the suspect in several similar incidents reported over the past few months.
Young is charged with:
Two counts of Attempted First-Degree Burglary (felony)
Secret Peeping (misdemeanor)
Indecent Exposure (misdemeanor)
Second-Degree Trespassing (misdemeanor)
Young was booked into the Buncombe County Detention Facility, where he is being held without bond after a magistrate determined he is ineligible for release.
The investigation remains ongoing, and Asheville police say additional charges are expected. Detectives are also asking anyone who may have experienced a similar incident in the Deer Lake Drive area to contact the Asheville Police Department.
