Asheville Police Apprehend Four Following Armed Robbery and Assault

Asheville -- August 22, 2026: The Asheville Police Department arrested two adults and two juveniles Thursday evening in connection with a violent armed robbery and assault in central Asheville.

Asheville -- August 22, 2026: The Asheville Police Department arrested two adults and two juveniles Thursday evening in connection with a violent armed robbery and assault in central Asheville.

Officers responded at approximately 7:22 p.m. on August 20 to the 50 block of Erskine Street following reports of an individual armed with a gun. Upon arrival, officers located a victim who had been assaulted during a robbery. Police quickly gathered descriptions of the suspects and their getaway vehicle, locating the car shortly thereafter. One suspect attempted to flee on foot before being apprehended, while three others were taken into custody without incident.

A subsequent search of the vehicle uncovered three firearms, including one stolen handgun modified with a rapid-fire conversion device:

  • Glock 21 pistol equipped with a full-auto switch kit

  • Glock 48 pistol

  • Century Arms Draco pistol

Keleal Marshall Waters (DOB: 12/22/2006)

  • Felony Robbery with a Dangerous Weapon

  • Felony First Degree Burglary

  • Felony Assault with a Deadly Weapon Inflicting Serious Injury

  • Felony Possession of a Stolen Firearm

  • Felony Possession of a Weapon of Mass Destruction

  • Felony Breaking and Entering with Intent to Terrorize/Injure

  • Contributing to the Delinquency of a Juvenile (2 counts)

  • Carrying a Concealed Gun (2 counts)

  • Waters was booked into the Buncombe County Detention Facility and is being held under no bond.

    Rashawn Mikia Alley (DOB: 02/23/2007)

    • Felony Aid and Abet Armed Robbery

    • Misdemeanor Contributing to the Delinquency of a Minor (2 counts)

    Alley was also booked into the Buncombe County Detention Facility under no bond.

    In cooperation with the Department of Juvenile Justice, two juveniles were charged as adults and transferred to secured custody in Taylorsville:

    • Felony Aid and Abet Armed Robbery

    • Felony First Degree Burglary

    • Felony Breaking and Entering with Intent to Terrorize/Injure

    • Misdemeanor Resisting a Public Officer

    Juvenile 2

    • Felony Aid and Abet Armed Robbery

    • Misdemeanor Possession of a Handgun by a Minor
