Madison County -- April 22, 2026: Deputies with the Madison County Sheriff's Office announced the arrest of a Tennessee man in connection with the shooting death of Kenneth Larry Patterson.
Douglas Rex Conner, 70, of Greeneville, Tennessee, was taken into custody on April 21, 2026, following an extensive investigation. The arrest follows an incident on March 31, 2026, when deputies responded to a call on Franklin Mountain Road around 1:20 a.m. and discovered Patterson deceased at the scene.
Motive and Legal Proceedings
Investigators say the shooting was the result of a domestic-related incident sparked by what is believed to have been a jealous rage.[1][3]
Online court documents indicate that Conner is charged with felony murder and is currently being held without bond. His first appearance before a district court judge is pending, with his next scheduled court date set for May 12, 2026.
