Whether you are looking to entertain the grandkids, enjoy a dog-friendly afternoon, or dive into the "hidden" history of our local museums and streets, April is packed with scavenger hunt events.

Saturday, April 4: Nature & Four-Legged Fun
EGG-stravaganza Scavenger Hunt
Time: 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM
Location: WNC Nature Center (75 Gashes Creek Rd, Asheville)
The Details: Kids are invited to solve clues throughout the park to find hidden eggs. Once the sheet is complete, head to the Membership Office for a prize.
Bonus: During the event, guests may have the chance to see some of the resident animals enjoying special treats.
Cost: Included with general admission.
Sunday, April 5: The "Hidden" Museum Hunt
Public Tour: Discovering Art in Asheville
Time: 3:00 PM – 4:00 PM
Location: Asheville Art Museum (2 South Pack Square)
The Details: This isn't just a lecture—it’s an interactive "find-it" tour led by volunteer educators. You’ll be guided to discover specific details within the collection and the museum's history that most visitors walk right past.
Cost: Free for members or included with general admission. The museum often offers this tour on Sundays.
Friday, April 17: Waynesville Heritage Hunt
Evening Under the Arch (Appalachian True Heritage Festival)
Time: 6:00 PM – 9:00 PM
Location: Main Street, Waynesville (Start at the Arch, 16 S Main St)
The Details: Kick off the festival with an evening of live music and a self-guided exploration of the "Heritage Trail." Look for local artisans demonstrating traditional mountain skills under the downtown lights.
Anytime Hunts (Self-Guided)
If you can't make it to a scheduled event, these two permanent hunts are perfect for an April weekend:
Waynesville Public Art Trail Hunt: Waynesville Public Art Trail Hunt: Pick up a commemorative guidebook ($5) at Waynesville Town Hall (9 S. Main St.) inside the Development Services Office. You can also explore for free using the interactive mobile map and audio tour at waynesvillepublicart.org. Be sure to look for "The Music Men" at Station 6 to see how industrial scrap was transformed into mountain art.
Apple Quest (Hendersonville): A year-round search for a dozen brass apples hidden at landmark locations downtown. Pick up the official brochure at the Visitor Center (201 S. Main St).
