Asheville -- March 9, 2026: Asheville Police Department Press Release: Asheville Police Detectives are investigating a shooting that occurred Sunday morning downtown. Nine individuals sustained mostly minor injuries during the incident. All were treated and released.
APD Officers responded to investigate reports of gunshots in the 100 block of North Lexington Avenue around 3:13 a.m. on March 8th. Upon arrival, officers located multiple injured people among a large crowd fleeing the scene and began to render aid until the arrival of emergency medical personnel. Seven individuals were struck by stray gunfire or fragments during the incident; one was injured while trying to reach safety, and one was physically assaulted, resulting in a concussion. All nine sustained injuries and were treated and released.
