Asheville -- October 3, 2026: Asheville Police Department Housing Unit officers conducting proactive patrols in West Asheville arrested a convicted felon Thursday, October 1, 2026, after a significant drug bust. The specialized unit's focused efforts led to the seizure of a trafficking amount of fentanyl, along with crack cocaine and methamphetamine, enhancing community safety in residential areas.
According to APD's account, officers attempted to contact Eric Lee Anderson Sr., 45, on Granada Street in West Asheville around 7:20 p.m. Anderson allegedly fled on an e-bike, discarding a bag containing controlled substances. He was located nearby and taken into custody.

Surveillance and Enforcement in Asheville Public Housing: What Residents Face
Heightened Human & Tech Monitoring: Unlike standard residential neighborhoods that operate almost entirely on 911 dispatch calls, developments managed by the Housing Authority of the City of Asheville (HACA)—such as Pisgah View, Hillcrest, and Klondyke—see dedicated Asheville Police Department (APD) Housing Unit officers conducting proactive foot, bike, and vehicle patrols through breezeways and courtyards, backed by property camera networks and automated license plate readers.
Encouraging Neighbor Reports: Both APD and HACA actively push tenants to monitor and report one another through the anonymous TIP2APD text/app system, tenant council meetings, and lease-compliance complaints
