Families in the Asheville area seeking a unique Easter adventure can hop aboard the Bunny Hopper Express in Bryson City. The Great Smoky Mountains Railroad (GSMR) is offering a special Easter train ride that combines scenic views with holiday fun, promising to create lasting memories.

The Bunny Hopper Express is a 4.5-hour round-trip excursion that departs from the Bryson City Depot. During the train ride, passengers can spot "train-hopping bunnies" and participate in an Easter egg hunt with prizes during a layover at the Nantahala Outdoor Center. The event includes activity giveaway bags and Easter treats for children, as well as photo opportunities with bunny characters. Boxed lunches are available for purchase, and cameras are recommended.

  • The Route: The journey travels along the historic Murphy Branch Line, crossing the spectacular Fontana Trestle and following the Nantahala River, offering some of the best wilderness views in Western North Carolina.

    The event is geared toward families with children, with activities specifically designed for kids. All ages are welcome, but those over age 2 require tickets in certain classes.

Some dates are currently listed as available for booking, but early reservations are highly encouraged for this popular holiday weekend.
