Their journey began on the set of the 1989 classic When Harry Met Sally.... Rob, the director, was a "miserable, divorced, Jewish romantic lead" (much like the character Harry), while Michele was a sharp, talented set photographer. Their connection was so profound that Rob famously changed the film's ending from the characters parting ways to them getting married—mirroring his own newfound belief in happy endings.
Parallel Careers & Shared Success
While the world knew Rob for his iconic transition from "Meathead" on All in the Family to a director of "perfect" films, Michele was a titan in her own right.
Michele’s Creative Eye: Beyond her set photography for Misery and When Harry Met Sally..., she captured the iconic cover of The Art of the Deal (1987) and later became the Co-President of Castle Rock Entertainment.

Behind the red carpets and political victories lay a deeply personal struggle that millions of families across America will recognize: the battle against addiction. For the Reiners, this battle was fought alongside their son, Nick.
"Being Charlie": Art as a Bridge
In 2015, Rob and Nick collaborated on the film Being Charlie. Co-written by Nick and directed by Rob, the movie was a raw, semi-autobiographical look at Nick’s cycle of heroin addiction, homelessness, and rehab.

The Ultimate Price
On December 14, 2025, Michelle and Ron were found dead in their Brentwood home. Thier son NIck has been charged.
