Swain County -- August 36, 2026: Swain County Sheriff’s Deputies conducte a traffic stop on Aug. 22, which led to the seizure of approximately 30.5 grams of suspected methamphetamine, marijuana and drug paraphernalia, resulting in three people being taken into custody.
Deputies observed a white GMC Sierra traveling without a registration plate on Walker Woody Road. Deputies caught up with the vehicle on U.S. 74 westbound and initiated a traffic stop near the Bryson City exit at Veterans Boulevard.
An investigation led to the seizure of approximately 30.5 grams of suspected methamphetamine, marijuana and drug paraphernalia, resulting in three people being taken into custody.
The driver was identified as Dalton Arthur Tillett, 27, of Andrews, two passengers were identified as Sandra Abigail Hall, 28, of Bryson City, and Gerald Lewis Hanson, 28, of Bryson City.
North Carolina State Highway Patrol troopers arrived to assist with the traffic stop and identification of the vehicle’s occupants. Bryson City Police Department officers later assisted at the scene.
During a search, officers located multiple containers and bags containing suspected methamphetamine.
